Remembering Clothes from the 70s

I was looking through some old photos from the 1970's over the past weekend and started to realize how much I do NOT remember from my childhood years.  My brother is fifteen years older than me, so when I was growing up, he was sort of a hero to me.  As I looked at the photos in front of me, I was shocked to see what my own brother was wearing.  He had on one of those funky silk 70's shirts that yo sometimes see in TV re-runs from that decade.  I hope he didn't wear it too often.  The funny thing is that I cannot remember him ever wearing that shirt when I was a kid.  Maybe I blocked it out or perhaps he was only wearing it because he just got it for his birthday.  I checked and found some similar ones selling very well on eBay.  Regardless, it was a very nice example of current collectibles that get sold on eBay and it was also a nice example of why I hope we don't ever dress like that again.

Cams Make Compound Bows Unique

The feature of a compound bow that makes it unique compared to other types of bows such as longbows and recurve bows is the cam. The cams or wheels are found at the end of each limb. When the bow is drawn, cables slotted into the wheels start to move and when the draw reaches halfway the cams take over and the bow is suddenly much easier to draw. It is also lighter to hold at full draw than it otherwise would be.

Virtually every bow manufacturer uses their own cam technology, sort of like their secret sauce that gives their bows the edge over their competitors. So a Bear Archery bow with its perimeter weighted modular single cam system will work a little differently to the BowTech bows with their binary cam system.

New Bath Shower Faucets to Impress!

finding the right bath and shower faucets can be a daunting task by any means. The choices are nearly endless and with the wide variety of styles and brands it can be hard to pick. In most cases people will succumb to the theory that the more it costs, the better it is. Just like anything else, thats only true to a point. Even some of the top name brands have their downsides and even some poor quality products. Think of it like buying a new car, but instead you're buying a new shower faucet. You want it to look nice and function well, you also want it to install easily and be easily repairable. How do these things relate to cars? Well do you think it would be wise to buy an extremely low calibur mercedez benz just because of the name. It might look nice and have the name, but it doesn't mean that the thought and engineering went into it the same as it did for their top models. You get stuck with an inferior product that is prone to expensive failure and easy outmatched by any well built "econo" brand.

Always ask or research how well each faucet or fixture can be repaired if a problem develops. Hard water, expansion and contraction can all wreak havoc on your plumbing and fixtures. A little forethought in this department goes a long, long way.

Another valuable point to consider is the finish of bath or shower faucets. Plastic is an obvious material to avoid... mostly due to its cheap look and feel, but also because its prone to cracking, oxidizing and warping. Brass is about the best material you can find, especially for people that have hard water issues. It is extremely resistant to corrosion and it looks very nice!

don't forget to consider how easily the faucets can be cleaned and maintained. This will also help with corrosion and hard water problems!

There you are, some tips to impress your guess with your new bath and shower faucets! now arm youself with as much knowledge as you can and get shopping!

Nitric Oxide Supplements

Supplements ftw
Creative Commons License photo credit: stoic

As I was researching so called muscle building supplements recently, I came across one that was both mysterious and intriguing to me: nitric oxide supplements for bodybuilding. I already knew about most of the well known bodybuilding supplements, such as creatine monohydrate and good ol' whey protein powder.

But what was this nitric oxide (or "NO") stuff all about? I of course immediately thought this was the latest scam in the supplement world, so I decided to dig a little deeper.

Well it turns out, there is not much objective research or hard scientific data on the effectiveness of nitric oxide as a bodybuilding supplement. However, there have been several studies on various medical uses of NO.

It is widely accepted that NO, as it naturally occurs in the body, can indeed increase blood flow. In fact, many believe it is a key chemical messenger involved in male sexual arousal. The only problem is that nobody has proved that, taken in supplement form, NO can produce the desired results.

Patchouli Oil to Attract and Repel

There are many different uses for patchouli oil, but it is perhaps most popular around the world as a powerful aphrodisiac.  Patchouli essential oil is a key fixative in over 50% of men's colognes produced world wide.  Unlike most essential oils, patchouli matures and gains a better scent over time with aging.  Add to that its powerful, deep earthy tones and you have the perfect perfume fixative.  Patchouli oil has gained its name as an aphrodisiac owing to its abilities to stimulate the pituitary gland and aid in releasing endorphins into the brain.  Wearing patchouli or being around someone who is giving off the scent makes us feel a natural high.  This chemical attraction makes for a potent aphrodisiac.  Its ironic that what is a powerful attractant for humans is also a deterrent for insect pests - patchouli has been used for centuries to scent silk for travel when exporting into countries such as India.  Who ever said your insect repellent needs to smell bad has never tried patchouli oil!

Bring on the KFC Coupons

Right or wrong, I enjoy going out and eating fast food.  It isn't a habit, but it could be.  It doesn't take much to convince me to stop somewhere.  One time when a friend of mine was riding with me to work, he somehow produced KFC coupons while we were driving.  Actually, he had clipped them that morning on a whim.  We ended up going there to eat every day that week!  With the coupons, I actually spent about ten dollars less that week on lunches than I normally do.

I think it's interesting watching the changes in fast food as society transforms.  KFC is actually a great example of this.  They started out with chicken that tasted so good that it was "finger lickin' good" and now Oprah is hawking for their healthy menu.  Heck, they used to be Kentucky Fried Chicken.  Good luck selling that as a new idea today.

I have to admit that I miss the old days of just being able to enjoy a meal without being served a side of guilt.

Getting A Personal Loan With Bad Credit Ratings

Got a bad credit rating? If you have then you better make sure that you don't get yourself into a situation where you need to get a hold of cash in a hurry because the only options open to you if you don't have a friend to help you out will be credit products which carry a high price.

Loans for people with bad credit
are easily available these days in the form of payday loans or, if you own a car, a log book loan. Both these products charge extremely high interest rates because the lenders know they can get away with it. Not only that but with a log book loan you have to put your vehicle down as collateral and will lose it if you fail to repay on time.

The only answer if you have a bad credit rating is to make sure you don't get into an emergency financial situation where you need to rely on one of these lenders. Put aside a little money every month in an easily available current account where you know you can get it when the need arises.

Mortgage Refinance Phoenix

The hardest trials in life are health and financial problems. It's draining and utterly despairing. This is how many homeowners in Phoenix are feeling, or have felt, and in fact, many have thrown in the towel and were foreclosed. This is a pity because if they got a mortgage refinance Phoenix, they would have been able to keep their house on loan terms that are extremely easy to handle.

From a whopping 6.5% in 2005, the interest rates for a home loan in Phoenix has gone down cosiderably to a 4.375%. That's an enormous drop that will save you at least $1,500 a month. This is definitely worth a second serious look.

Talk to your broker or one of the many local groups that provide free loan advice to homeowners like the Community Legal Services Inc and the Neighborhood Housing Services of Phoenix.
