The Best Small Kitchen Designs for Your Home

More and more design shows are focusing on small kitchen designs that will maximize the way you use limited kitchen space. If you are one of the many who live in a home or apartment with a small kitchen, cooking can feel like a chore. The good news is that there are a number of ways in which anyone can make the most of their kitchen space. While the most ambitious changes will require hiring an outside contractor, there are a number of things that any homeowner can do to make better use of the space available to them.

One of the first things that should be done in any small space is removing the clutter. If counter space is at a premium, consider finding small appliances that can be easily mounted under cabinets or counters. This will free up additional space that can be used for cooking or any other kitchen activity. For those who would like to do a more extreme remodeling project, built in appliances like dishwashers, ovens, or even refrigerators are a great way to reclaim kitchen space.

Lighting can make a huge difference in small spaces. Harsh overhead lights can make a small space feel even smaller and less inviting. Installing track light fixtures will soften the light in the kitchen, while still providing adequate light for cooking anything. Track light fixtures have become more and more common in home design, and fixtures may be used with any type of bulb including those that are low energy and eco-friendly. Do-it-yourselfers will find that there are a number of track lighting kits that are designed for ease of installation currently on the market.

The most popular small kitchen designs find ways to make the same space feel bigger. This can be done by opening up the kitchen into another room, making the space more open and less claustrophobic. An easy option to get this effect is as simple as changing the kitchen curtains. If you have a window in your kitchen, curtains that are light and airy will make the room seem larger and warmer. Adding tie-backs to keep the window open is also a great idea that will help with the flow of the room.

Many people with small kitchens complain about the amount of counter space. Rolling breakfast tables or butcher block tables are a great investment for those with little space. They can be brought in as needed, and will give you more available space.

Massage Home Study

For the indoor types, a good home massage is the way to go. A person is more at ease having such a rubdown. This is far better than having them in a crowded physical therapist office. Just like the old days, when doctors made house calls, a physical therapist can do the same. These highly-trained professionals have the skills to make your body rubdown a great experience. Now, the procedure is no different from at a PT’s office. You must go through a consultation to determine whether you qualify or not. Then if you do, the therapy itself is tailored to your needs. You will feel more relaxed after this is done. This is enhanced further by it being done in the privacy of your own living space.

Solar Light in the UK

This is actually pretty funny.  Solar light is a valuable and popular form of lighting nowadays; soak up the sun during daylight hours, use that stored energy at night to light your home and garden lights.  Great idea.  Get this, though.  For years, people doubted as to whether this could work in the UK.  "The UK?" you ask.  Why should the UK be different than Turkey or California?  Well, the picture anyone will paint for you of London weather is quite gray, cloudy, rainy... overall: dark.  So the thought was that the UK doesn't actually receive enough daylight solar power to store up for nighttime use!  Pretty funny.  Fortunately, it's turned out not to be true.  They get enough sun for lights, just not to help suicide rates.
