A Kitchen Island as Breakfast Nook

Our house is not big enough to have a separate room that we call the breakfast nook. Our kitchen is rather large, but there are no rooms extending off of it. So, in my efforts to have a cozy place to eat a quick breakfast or lunch without setting the dining room table, I have converted my kitchen island into a breakfast nook. My island is about six feet by four feet with a sink. The sink extends about two feet into the island leaving one foot of counter space behind it. That leaves a six foot long stretch of counter that I use as a breakfast nook. The space is big enough to seat three people so it is perfect for the two people who live in our home. I have pulled stools up to the breakfast nook and they are comfortable because the counter extends past the cabinets that support it leaving a place for our knees and legs to rest. While our breakfast nook cannot accommodate a lot of people and it is not the most comfortable place, it is just right for our small household.
