In the year 1950, The Type 2 Volkswagen T1 became the first generation van in the Transporter Series of vans and light trucks by Volkswagen. It became an immediate success at its introduction, impart due to the popular success of the Type 1 VW ìBugî which was introduced and put into mass production in 1945, and of which 1,000,000 cars were sold by 1955. The Volkswagen T1 van was a camperís dream come true. It was everything that a camper could want all built into a single vehicle. It was spacious and mobile, and took the concept of the automobile and transformed it into what could even be converted to a home on wheels. The first versions of the Volkswagen T1 were made until 1955, at which time the next version of the T1 was introduced with a smaller engine compartment and smaller wheels. Another major increase in features occurred in 1962 when the Volkswagen T1 added a model to its T1 line of vans which took the total weight capacity from a limit of about 1,500 pounds up to nearly 2,200 pounds. In the year 1963, the Volkswagen T1 was seen with a few more changes such as an engine size increase from a 1.1 liter engine to a 1.5 liter engine, and in 1964, Volkswagen made further updates to their Volkswagen T1 model which made automotive history that lives on to this day. Prior to 1964, the side doors on the Volkswagen T1 opened outward allowing people in and out of the vehicle, but in this updated version of the increasingly popular vehicle, a sliding door was offered. As can be seen today, the concept of the sliding door still lives on in the thousands of minivans currently in production and purchased annually. The Volkswagen camper van T1 was sold in America and in Europe up until 1967, at which time it was upgraded further and a new model released in its place, the T2.

1. Folks with bigger families: ordinary personal/family transport cars are made with the assumption that every family is made up of two parents and two (or maximum three) kids. But that is not always the case. There are people with bigger families out there, and who would find the traditional car impractical for them. worth noting here is the fact that ‘bigger family does not always mean more kids.’ Sometimes, live-in (extended family)relatives or friends constitute ‘family’ and provisions for their accommodation in family transport have to be made: which often sees people having to buy the said 7 seater vehicles.

2. Public transport business operators: there are cases, in public (passenger) transport when it emerges that the standard cab size is inadequate – due to the size of parties seeking transportation. In such situations, the use of a 7 passenger vehicle may be called for.

3. Low-Level and Mid-Level Executive transport operators: while most organizations have chauffeur-driven limousines for the transport of high level executives, lower level executives often have to be driven in decent-looking vehicles (but not limousines). Examples of those are the 7 passenger vehicles in question. This is a situation where rank-and-file employees get transported using staff buses, with the high level executives, as mentioned, being carried in the limousines. The situation would leave the mid-level and low-level executives to be carried in the said seven passenger vehicles. This way, a distinction is made between them and the high level executives (who are above them in the food chain), and the rank and file employees (who are below them in the food chain).

4. Carpoolers: many carpoolers find that the standard car size is inadequate for them (especially where 'carpooling' means all family members, rather than just the principals, making use of cars communally). The need for more space to accommodate several families in one car often makes it essential for carpoolers to buy 7 passenger vehicles.

When Formula One was instituted after the second world war, Mercedes continued its success by garnering the championship in 1954. The accident brought about the death of not only their driver but of eighty other supporters in the crowd and injuring over a hundred more as well.

Almost four decades after the tragic event, Mercedes is now back in motorsport racing and is currently one of the most well-respected teams as well as most sought-after engine suppliers in Formula One and other events.

All About Subaru Impreza

The Subaru Impreza car is a car model manufactured by Subaru, a division of Fujita Heavy Industries. Production began in 1993 and it is still in production today. Similar cars include the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Nissan Sentra. There have been three generations of the Impreza since its debut. The car has featured a boxer engine which means that pistons are opposed to one another and are literally boxing. This provides enough balance to negate the use of a harmonic balancer, however some vibration occurs due to offsetting.

The second generation of the Impreza was introduced to the United States Domestic Market. It was not available in a coupe model, only a sedan version. The headlights throughout this model were very distinctive ranging from bug-eyed to crocodile-eyed to hawk-eyed. A sporty version of the Impreza, dubbed the WRX, was developed using turbocharged engine producing 227 hp. This hot sedan also managed to return about 23 mpg while its all wheel drivetrain was praised by drivers. However, its five speed transmission was considered to be notchy and not as smooth as it should be. An even sportier model, the STi, was developed by Subaru Technica Institute that came standard with BBS rims, Brembo brakes, Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires, a 2.5L displacement, a driver controlled center differential, and a six speed transmission. The STi managed a four and a half second 0-60 sprint and a 13 second standing quarter mile, a ferociously quick car.

The third generation of the Impreza featured a radical redesign into a 5 door hatch rather than the 4 door sedan and an airplane styled grill. The new WRX model pushes the limits closer to the old STi with 265 horsepower and 20+ miles per gallon. The Impreza cars continue to push toward their World Rally Championship twins and are truly incredible machines in their own right.
