Cheese and Shrimp Kebabs

This shrimp recipe takes only a few minutes to make. It is really simple and absolutely delicious. You will need chedar cheese, butter, large shrimps and lemon quarters.

Place cubes of cheese, large shrimp and the lemon quarters alternately on skewers. Brush the shrimp with a little melted butter. Cover wire rack on grill pan with foil. Place kebabs on foil and grill approximately 3 minutes, turning once.

Cheese and Shrimp Moulds

This tasty recipe will also take you a few minutes to make. For four servings you will need:

½ pint aspic jelly

6ox peeled shrimp

6 large radishes

8oz grated cheddar cheese

½ lb skinned tomatoes

½ tsp salt

A few drops of Tabasco sauce

3 tbsp cream

Salt and pepper

First, pour enough aspic jelly into bottom of fish-shaped jelly mould (or 1 ¾ pint ring mould) to cover bottom thinly. Allow to set and arrange some of the shrimp in bottom of mould to represent scales of fish and place slices of radish for eyes, set in a little more aspic jelly.

Chop the remaining radishes and shrimp and add to cheese. Remove seeds from the tomatoes and chop the pulp finely. Stir into the cheese mixture with salt and a few drops of Tabasco sauce. Fold in the remaining aspic and cream. Spoon into mould and allow to set, preferably chilling in the fridge. Warm the mould slightly and turn out sharply on the serving dish. Serve with crisp green salad.

When you are finished, cut the ribbon and tie a simple bow around your asparagus. Viola! Your centerpiece is complete.

If you have something against asparagus, you could also use fresh green beans or red chili peppers. To add a bit more eye appeal consider adding flower buds around the arrangement. The colors “pop” and you have a great looking vegetable centerpiece.

Hunting knives and knives in general, have always been a major factor in the survival of humans.

Around 2.6 million years ago, in the Afar region of Ethiopia, the first knives were being made from flint, obsidian and other fine-grained sediments. These crude hunting knives were used primarily for cutting meat and scrapping fatty tissue from hides. They were also used for shaping branches into usable tools such as a digging stick or spear. Although there is limited evidence, it has been suggested that Stone Age knives were used to hollow out larger pieces of wood to be used as water collectors or containers.

How do we know this? By examining the technologies of chimpanzees and modern hunter-gatherers. Combine these with archaeological findings and we can compile a list of possible uses for early stone hunting knives.

New compound bows are released by manufacturers every year as they come up with new technological advances that make their bows more powerful, more accurate, more silent or a combination of a couple of these. The temptation is there to ditch the PSE Stinger compound bow that has served me so well for so long and pick up one of the new breed. But then I think, what could I possibly get that I don’t have now. I’ve got a fast, reliable bow that I am comfortable shooting and that I am familiar with and that will serve me just as well for another season.

As long as my old bow remains in tip top working condition and it gets me the results that make me happy then I’ll stay with the tried and trusted. New technology won’t matter to me if I don’t know what I’m missing.
