Facial Toning: What is it?

What is facial toning? That seems to be the most frequently asked question of people these days. To clear things out, facial toning or facial toning exercise to be exact is described as a natural cosmetic procedure that enhances and improves the muscles of the face. If you choose to perform such routines, you will have an enhanced facial volume, you lose face fat, reduce expression marks & wrinkles and lower the possibility of sagging in the face.

There are actually two ways for you to achieve facial toning, either through passive exercises or active exercises. Active exercises involve performing voluntary, repetitious contractions and tightening of specific muscles in the face. Using a mirror, you will be able to see your face as you target and exercise certain muscles in your face.

These routines involve the use of the muscles around your neck, eyes, cheeks, forehead, lips and throat. By simply following specific exercises continuously and religiously for about a month or so, you will notice your skin is now tighter and you appear more youthful. Once your muscles begin to reform, you can reduce the frequency of the exercises that you perform. By doing so, your muscles stay in use and in effect, prevents your skin from further drooping and sagging.

On the other hand, passive exercises stimulate the skeletal muscles in your face with the use of electric pulses. Metal electrodes are covered with conductive gel and then placed on specific areas of your face. When the small electric waves are sent to the muscles, this will then stimulate and contract your facial muscles. After such procedure, your facial muscles will begin to reform and the targeted skin becomes tight and smooth. The results that you can acquire from this procedure is a bit similar to that of active exercises, the only difference is that the muscles are not contracted voluntarily.
