Finding Auto Body Parts
Auto Body parts is big business. Millions of people drive and studies have shown that on average each person will have three accidents in their life. That's a lot of twisted metal. Luckily, if you know where to get auto body parts, you can save yourself and your loved ones lots of money.
It can cost a lot of money to repair damage to a car. What may start off looking like a simple fender bender may turn into thousands of dollars in repairs. When repairing a car the two basic costs are parts and labor. If you are willing to provide the labor and can find reasonably priced parts, you can save yourself thousands of dollars.
There are several places you can get body parts. One of the best places to go is a junk yard; in fact, certain junk yards even let you take the parts off of the old cars yourself and give you a discount for doing the labor. This can be a good source if your car is at least five years old.
If you have a car that is younger than the five year mark, you have two options. You can go to your local car dealer and have him procure the parts you need for you. Everyone knows that is expensive. Car dealers charge high prices for parts and service. It is one of their best income streams.
Your other option is a manufacturer. There are several manufacturers who make replacement parts for a wide variety of cars. If you are lucky and know someone in the car repair business, you may be able to get a referral. Otherwise you will have to search the internet or your local business directory to find one.
Fixing your own automobile can save you a lot of money, but you have to know where to find auto body parts at a fair price to make it worth your while.
