Fishing Line Tips
Because the fishing line is such an important part of any fisherman's arsenal of fishing tackle, it's important to learn as much as you can about how best to use and care for it. Like any piece of equipment or gear, proper care will allow your fishing line to work at peak performance much longer, saving you money in the long run. This can be especially true if you fancy the use of super or fluorocarbon fishing line, as these types of fishing line can be quite expensive.
Proper fishing line care starts with loading it on the fishing reel. Always load the fishing line on your reel the same way it is loaded on it's original spool. What this means is when loading your reel, the line should be coming off the spool in the same direction it's going on the reel. Next, never store your loaded reel or spools of line in hot places or direct sunlight, as both of these factors can harm the quality of fishing line. Finally, check your line for knots, twists, and abrasions while fishing as any of these can lead to a broken line.
