Liposuction and Tummy Tuck

Forms of cosmetic surgery, both liposuction and tummy tuck are procedures that require surgery to remove the high levels of fat and extra skin in the abdominal area. Tummy tucks used to be the only available surgical option to address the large amount of fat and extra skin in the stomach area.  Requiring surgery, a tummy tuck is a procedure that removes that extra skin from the stomach area along with tightening the abdominal muscles after the skin is removed.  The procedure is done with local anesthesia where large excisions are made of the skin to remove the extra fat and excisions are made to tighten the stomach muscles.

A tummy tuck calls for removing the extra skin in the abdominal area. The liposuction procedure targets the actual fat in the stomach area.  Between the underlying stomach muscles and the skin, the subcutaneous area is where the stubborn fat lives that make liposuction a preferred procedure over a tummy tuck.

Liposuction does not deal with the laxity of the skin in the stomach area but with the excess fat that remains after all diet and exercise measures are expended.  If everything you have tried does not get rid of the fat, then this may be a consideration for you.  However, the liposuction usually works with those people who have not had many children and who have had their stomach skin stretched extensively or have major stretch marks from pregnancy.  Abdominal liposuction is a procedure that actually breaks down the fat deposits in the stomach area and then uses different methods to remove the fat.

There is a difference between liposuction and tummy tuck.  Cosmetically, an abdominal liposuction is the better way to go.  Liposuction is focused on resculpting the body by removing the extra fat that makes the stomach protrude.  However, a bloated belly is not necessarily a reason to get a liposuction procedure done.  The type of food you eat can cause a bloated belly as well as how fast you eat your food and the presence of air in the stomach.

The cost of liposuction is a much less expensive way than getting a tummy tuck to achieve your goal to get rid of your stomach.  It is also a safer procedure.  Remember to consider why you need the surgery.  It does not constitute a reason to forego a healthy diet and exercise.  Liposuction is a means to remove the extra fat that will not go away with all the necessary diet changes and the most exercise.

The tummy tuck requires making large excisions in the skin and tucking the skin.  This procedure requires that you remove the belly button and replace it.  This process leads to major scars and a disfigured belly button.  The cost of a liposuction and tummy tuck are not the same but a tummy tuck costs much more.  It also requires more actual surgical procedure than liposuction.  You not only need to remove the extra skin but you actually have to tighten the stomach muscles after that skin has been removed.

If you need to have both procedures done, it is recommended that you do the liposuction first, and then have the tummy tuck done.  With the medical progress in the liposuction procedures, you may not need the tummy tuck.  The liposuction may contract the stomach muscles and the tummy tuck may not be required.

Also, whether a doctor can perform both of these procedures at the same time will certainly depend upon your body makeup, your medical history, healing time required, and any other concerns relative to your particular situation, including how the blood supply will affect the skin.  The key here is making sure that you sit down and have an extensive consultation with your doctor.  Any questions, no matter how trivial they may seem or impertinent facts, need to be addressed with the doctor.  Undergoing any type of surgery always presents medical risks and any risk that can be eliminated is worth the question asked or information presented.

Affordable liposuction is fast becoming the most preferred method of addressing removal of the extra stomach fat.  There are new methods available that influence choosing this method of surgery.  New procedures include using ultrasound techniques to break down the fat. Liposuction side effects include swelling, some bruising, temporary numbness, as well as discomfort.  These side effects are typically common with surgical procedures.  However, there are some real liposuction dangers and these include blood clots, allergic reactions, and maybe infection.  The key to any surgical procedure of this type is to make sure that the doctor is board certified and has the experience that minimizes risks.  A bad liposuction could result in serious illness, injury, or even death.

Finding affordable liposuction entails the process of searching the Internet, making calls, and comparing information about where to get the procedure done.  There are major variations in prices ranging from state to state and even from city to city.  Remember, price is a consideration but should not be the only consideration.  Finding a reasonable price that includes travel with a reputable doctor may very well be worth the effort to have the process done.  When considering liposuction and tummy tucks, Investing the time and effort to access all the relevant information cannot be underestimated.
