Perfume Review: CK IN2U for Her by Calvin Klein

This CK IN2U for Her by Calvin Klein was launched on the market together with the masculine version. The target for both of them is a public of young people, the youngest and hyper-technological generation, who never lived in a world without internet, mp3 players and mobile phones. The official notes are: leaves of redcurrant, bergamot, grapefruit, white cactus, orchid, amber, red cedar, vanilla.
The opening notes of this Calvin Klein cologne are quite fruity and fresh, with grapefruit and another aromatic tropical fruit. The dominant note is actually a mildly sweet aroma, almost synthetic, but without reaching levels of chewing gum.
In the middle phase the sugary notes are still strong, but with a green aroma that was not there at the beginning. It is close to a Mediterranean style of masculine perfumery, with notes of rosemary and basil. The sweet sugary notes gradually move towards vanilla, thus keeping this fragrance on the feminine side. The final notes are quite bitter, which is something quite unusual in a feminine fragrance. The white cactus here gives a tone similar to vetiver or sage.
Although this is a perfume for women, the presence of green Mediterranean notes and the bitter aroma of the white cactus (almost like an Axe deodorant) bring this perfume very close to the masculine side. Even the most expert nose, if smelling this perfume for the very first time without knowing the full name, could probably taken it as a unisex fragrance. Probably, with more intense sweet (typically feminine) notes this doubt would have been cleared.
This ambiguity of this Calvin Klein perfume limits the potential of te aroma, which can only work as a personal perfume, which means, something to be worn because it meets the personal taste, not to project a particular image. On the romantic side it will not work, because the green is ambiguous and the bitter can be shocking from a close distance. The ideal age range is between 20 and 35 years.
