Plumbing Basics: The Truth About Bathroom Toilets
After working for many years as an Alpharetta plumber, I can tell you that toilets are by far the most common source of home plumbing problems. Sometimes, no matter how much you adjust the flow of water in the tank, you will still run into a clog at some point. To prevent this, keeping the toilet clear is the key. Avoid throwing items that are not really intended to be flushed in the toilet. In addition to that, you should become proficient in using the toilet’s plunger. Moreover, you must refrain from draining items in the toilet that shouldn’t be in there in the first place. Of course, it is quite obvious that bodily wastes and tissue papers are the only ones intended to be drained in the toilet. However, although toilet papers can be flushed in the toilet, you must not allow them to build up as this might clog the toilet’s drain. Therefore, make it a habit to flush the toilet every after use.
Meanwhile, if you are encountering toilet problems due to old and worn-out plumbing pipes, then you might want to look into the use of power-assist toilets. Such toilets utilize compressed air to allow waste materials to go down the drain smoothly. Most power-assist toilets can work with the water supply at home along with the pressure tank to aid in flushing the waste down. However, some models may require a compressor in order to do the job more effectively. The great thing about power assist toilets is the fact that water is kept inside the pressure tank, hence, they experience very little sweating. But as compared to conventional bathroom toilets, they are more expensive.
Apart from the typical gravity toilets and the more advanced power toilets, there are still other specialized toilet variants that are widely sold today. Take for instance, a shower and toilet that is combined in one fixture. These extraordinary toilet models offer a flush of water which you can use to wash up after using the toilet followed by a rush of warm air to help you dry up. There are also those that have special heating units, which function to keep the seat warm at all times. Regardless of the type of toilet that you plan to acquire, remember that observing appropriate flushing practice will prevent the likeliness of encountering a clog!
