Poison Ivy Rash
There are plenty of things that can happen to the human body which will show themselves on the skin. Often, the skin will get a rash from a number of different problems that you may be experiencing. One of the more common of these rashes, however, is what you get from poison ivy. If you have come into contact with his plant, a poison ivy rash will often appear within a day or two. Here is a little bit more information about poison ivy and what you can expect.
The allergic reaction that is the poison ivy rash comes about as a result of contact with the oil from inside the poison ivy plant itself. Once this oil is washed off of your skin, it is impossible for it to spread any further. One of the reasons for this misconception is because the poison ivy rash often appears as if it is spreading but that is actually just its natural course of development. The rash will itch quite a bit so treatment is often directed at controlling the itch and not overcoming the rash itself.
The poison ivy rash will usually appear a couple of days after you came into contact with the plant. It will typically show as a curved, bubbly rash on the skin that will appear as if it is spreading over time. The rash may get quite severe eventually but it will typically disappear within a week to 10 days. During that time, keeping the area clean and washing it with lye soap may do some good.
