If you want to get some help for opiate addiction then here is what you should do.
First of all you need to admit to yourself that you have a serious problem. If you do not take this critical step then you will not be able to take the appropriate follow up action that will be required to really change your life.
Going to a drug rehab center is a great place to start. Keep in mind that it will not be effective at all though unless you have truly admitted to your problem and genuinely want to get help. This is the bare requirement for even starting to overcome an opiate addiction. If you cannot even admit to your problem then there is no chance for a new life.

The relationship between a substance addiction potential and its legal status is a tried and troubled subject. Items such as tobacco and caffeine are notoriously addictive, while drugs such as marijuana or more far out hallucinogenic substances offer very little addictional potential, but remain steadfastly illegal. The subject of marijuana addiction is seeing somewhat of a surge in interest, perhaps as more people connect online and discuss it without the stigma of being outcaste from other smokers or used by anti-drug crusaders as well. The fact remains though that when someone speaks of a substance being illegal because it is addictive, you would be wise to step back and realize that addiction strangely plays a small role in the FDA making a drug illegal or legal. More often than not, money remains the number answer to this question, like so many others.

Beyond the superficial smiles and everyday glances in the working world, many people are living with addictions, behind closed curtains. It's not necessarily always what you'd think: junkies don't tend to always sit on street corners. In fact, some hold down 6 figure jobs, at least until they hit rock bottom. Living with an addiction causes even more stress to a stress-filled life; the secrecy and the shame can take their toll. If you are living with an addiction, whether it be to drugs, gambling, theft, or something else, the best way to deal with it is head-on. Planning an all out attack against addictive behaviors is the way to go: find others who are in the same boat with you, and support each other. Know why you want to quit, and then do it. The impulse to addiction may still exist, but you can learn how to move past it and lead a healthy life.
