Bathroom Sinks and Vanity Design

By the Staff at Home Bedroom Decor

With one of the most essential rooms in your home being discussed, it is important to pay attention to some key features.  No, we are not talking about the kitchen, but rather the bathroom.  Bathroom sinks can be some of the most expressive pieces in a bathroom of any size.  But, just like with the rest of your home decorating, you’ll want to make sure that they have a cohesive feel with the rest of your bath and bedroom spaces.  The last thing that you would want is for your sinks to stand out like a sore thumb in an otherwise conservative space.

This is not to say that you shouldn’t feel free to express a little creativity here, in fact you should.  We are just suggesting that you take the time to investigate what type of feeling you want create.  You probably want to allow your bathroom space to be an extension of the master bedroom in which it resides.  Depending on the layout of that room, the bathroom may have a seamless flow from it.  With this in mind, your bedroom motif or decor will need to be reflected in your bathroom space to some degree to keep it a cohesive look.  Simply using complementary colors could do the trick.  After all, your bathroom sinks will not be present anywhere else in the rooms.

Styles of Sinks and Vanities

You can find sinks for your bathroom in any number of shapes and materials.  The standard sink that is cultured marble or dropped into your bathroom counter are simple to install and are found in a great majority of most homes.  If you want something a bit more trendy, then you can choose from different materials, such as glass or metal and different shapes and layouts.  A common trend among the modern bathroom designs is to use a glass basin that is mounted on top of the counter.  This allows the faucet to flow into it and creates a clean look.

Another option is a metal sink like aged bronze or a hammered copper basin.  These look very elegant and can complement a host of bathroom designs.  What can help to highlight a great looking bathroom sink is a beautiful bathroom vanity.  Again, the common dropped counter top with the ‘Hollyood style’ bulb lighting around the mirror is the default vanity design in most homes.  The fashion-forward design has more of a retro look, like something from a 1920s art-deco style home.  These vanities are more like pieces of furniture in and of themselves.  Combining a nice vanity in a bathroom with nice sinks makes for a very polished and elegant look.
