Nearly all dogs need to have their nails clipped from time to time.  The grow too long if daily walking doesn't wear them down enough.  If you don't then they will grow too long and start to cut into their feet and make walking painful and may even end up with an expensive trip to the vets.  However,  this is a simple procedure that can easily be carried out at home when doing your regular dog grooming routine.

Buy a set of specialist dog nail clippers at any pet store that sells dog supplies and then use the Pet Grooming Guide for advice on how to carry out the procedure safely.  Remember that your pet may be nervous at first and so you will need to be very calming and maybe only clip a few nails at a time to start with.

Electric Dog Nail Grinders

The pet supply industry is no different, and many electric versions of old pet care products are hitting the market. From electric, self cleaning litter boxes to automatic doggy doors, there's no limit to the pet related, techno marvels available for purchase. One of the most popular remakes of an old pet care product is the dog nail grinder.

A Specialty type of dog nail clipper, dog nail grinders are actually a modified version of the dremel tool. Instead of "clipping" the dog's nails, the electric nail grinder does just what it's name suggests, grinds away the nail bit by bit. Many pet owners prefer the nail grinder as it has proven safer than standard clippers.
