Dog Tricks

Paul O'Grady, the British comedian and television presenter, is renowned for his love of dogs and regularly features them on his daily programme. One super dog that brought the house down was a cute little female Jack Russell who could dance, do acrobatic tricks and walk all over his master... literally. The little dog was obviously in prime condition and what we were about to see could never have been achieved by a fat dog.

Yvo Antoni and PrimaDonna made their TV debut in October 2009 and fans of Paul O'Grady's programme went wild about the pair. They watched Yvo get into all sorts of crazy positions in order for PrimaDonna to do her tricks. While Yvo lay down and raised his feet in the air his little dog stood on one of his upturned feet, then on the other, then she stood up on her back legs, balancing on the soles of Yvo's shoes.

When dog and master took a bow together, the audience went wild and wanted more. The duo did an encore, with a further song and dance act.

'How do you get your dog to do all this?' asked Paul.

'With lots of treats,' responded Yvo.

'And how long has it taken you to train her?'

'Two and a half years,' came the response.

'D'you think you could get her to do the same for me?' Paul was clearly very excited at the prospect.

And sure enough, after the briefest of tutoring, the little star weaved herself through the presenter's legs, then jumped up on his back and repeated a couple of the tricks she had just performed with her master. Everyone who watched the performance was amazed.

'Fantastic... wonderful,' enthused Paul. 'What a glorious little dog.'

When young male dogs exhibit excessive aggressive tendencies, especially during dog training, it may benefit the puppy to be neutered. If you are planning on breeding the dog, it is not an option, but also consider that the aggression in the dog might be passed down and you might want to considered breeding a different dog.

The operation of castration entails the surgical removal of both testicles which usually alters the hormonal balance of the dog and can make him more calm. This operation can change his overall tendencies of wanting to mate and often reduces his desire to constantly mark his territory. A common misconception is that neutering makes a dog docile and will not want to guard your property or family, but this surgery does not do reduce the value of your dog as a wonderful protector and household companion.

Not only can he hurt another person, but he could also end up getting the owner sued. when a dog bites is not usually done out of desire to be cruel, rather it is typically because the dog is trying to protect its property or it is just scared. The more you understand about your dog a better your going to be as an owner. The best way you can do this is by reading dog training books. A New Pet

Whenever your family decides that it's time to get a new pet, he can be difficult to figure out exactly which type of pet it should be. There are many different animals to choose from. You have to have some idea of what level of responsibility your family is willing to rise to an order to take care of this new family member. Even among dogs and a huge variety of levels of maintenance involved. Big dogs can be more work to take care of that little dog for example. This is because they require more exercise, although this can be great for people that would like to get more exercise, but that owner must be committed to the dog. You could decide to get a little Yorkie, a great Dane, but perhaps some English bulldog puppies. You should make sure that you understand all the needs of the dogs you are considering before making a commitment.

Dog Vacation!

Having a dog can be somewhat of a chore when you go on vacation. You need to find a good dog kennel to bring him to for the duration of your trip. You have to make sure that the kennel is a clean place that is going to treat your dog right. You don't want him to be too stressed out while you are gone. You may consider bringing him to the kennel for a short period of time before you go so that he has an opportunity to get used to it. Looking for a kennel that also has doggie day care is a big plus. These places typically have a dog run outside that has a place for the dogs to cool off during the summer and a heated place for them to get warm during the winter. If you find this it will be like your dog is on vacation while you are on vacation too!
