If you’re looking for trophy fish and a mix of different fishing locations but want to avoid the crowds that flock to the Kenai Peninsula each year, Kodiak Island is one of your best bets for Alaska fishing. Kodiak Island ranges from ten to sixty miles wide and is one hundred miles long tip to tip, making it the largest island on Alaska’s southern coast. It is usually best known as being home to the feared Kodiak bear. But don’t let this scare you away, this island is a gem for fishing. The waterways on the island are home to several salmon runs and house monster trout year round. The island also has a developed road system that allows you to rent a car and then explore the island, stopping off at one of the many roadside pull-offs to try your luck in a stream or river. Being an island, Kodiak is also offers a great deal or charter services into the nearby oceans and seas.

Because the fishing line is such an important part of any fisherman's arsenal of fishing tackle, it's important to learn as much as you can about how best to use and care for it. Like any piece of equipment or gear, proper care will allow your fishing line to work at peak performance much longer, saving you money in the long run. This can be especially true if you fancy the use of super or fluorocarbon fishing line, as these types of fishing line can be quite expensive.
Proper fishing line care starts with loading it on the fishing reel. Always load the fishing line on your reel the same way it is loaded on it's original spool. What this means is when loading your reel, the line should be coming off the spool in the same direction it's going on the reel. Next, never store your loaded reel or spools of line in hot places or direct sunlight, as both of these factors can harm the quality of fishing line. Finally, check your line for knots, twists, and abrasions while fishing as any of these can lead to a broken line.

After some years time practicing bass fishing, I’ve come to gather a few tips that may be useful to you. These bass fishing tips come from experience; as you get more of it, you’ll see that you will also have your own fishing tips to give to less experienced people.
The first tip is to avoid the temptation of buying big expensive fishing gear. Yes, I know it is tempting, but chances are it won’t be useful at first. Instead, opt for small, quality equipment that is easier to master. In this sport, if you are not prepared, the size of the equipment can play against you.
The other tip is to take things gradually. Just as in equipment. Apply the same principle in choosing locations, boats, etc. This way you’ll learn a lot and have fun!

If you really enjoy the sport of fly fishing, you know doubt are looking for some of the best fly fishing locations that are in your area. Although it can be a bit difficult to find some that are not a little bit spoiled, there are no doubt going to be some that are well within your reach which can offer you pristine location in a relatively unspoiled environment. How can you find these?
First of all, you should understand that you are rarely ever going to find good fly fishing locations by speaking to other people that enjoy the sport. As a matter of fact, once you find one of these locations for yourself, you will no doubt want to keep it to yourself. That is why it is necessary for you to do a little bit of searching on your own and discover your own areas. How can you do this?
One of the easiest ways that I found to do this was by looking at satellite maps. These are relatively easy to find on the Internet and you can even download a program from Google which will allow you to look at your terrain through the eyes of a satellite. Look for hidden ponds and streams that are not far off of the road but are somewhat hidden from view. You would probably be surprised to find that you pass many of these areas on a regular basis. These are often some of the best fly fishing locations that you can find and once you get permission from the property owner, you can enjoy this little secret, all to yourself.
