When considering what kind of guest accommodations you want in your house, you may face a decision between a futon couch/bed, or the more contemporary sleeper sofa.  Certainly both models have their pros and cons, but here are a few thoughts to consider.  With a futon sofa you will have a somewhat light and easy to move piece of furniture that easily converts into a bed.  You will need a futon cover, and having futon bedding that covers your daily use cover is recommended.  The day-to-day comfort level of a futon may be much less than a sofa, but then again, so is the cost.  A sleeper sofa may be a bit more expensive, heavier and less easy to move around a room.  But, depending on the model and mattress you get, sleeper sofas generally are more comfortable for sleeping that a futon.  They also tend to be much easier to sit on in the daily mode of being a sofa.
