High heels have always been popular but never to the extent that they are now. Women are wearing them more now than ever before. It is not uncommon to find 5 inch heels worn to work which now simply seems normal. In days past it might have been perceived as a bit extreme. Practical women's shoes have gotten taller over the last few years. At least those that are worn daily. At one time it seemed that flats or more reasonable heeled shoes were going to continue to be popular. Not anymore it seems.

Stiletto shoes seem to be gaining in popularity. Not only are heel heights not coming down any time soon but they are apparently going to get even taller. Many fashion icons like Christian Louboutin make full use of the platform on shoes. In the future they are going to be rolling out even taller shoes, 7 to 8 inches, that apparently will be considered reasonable to wear on a casual basis. It remains to be seen.
