Any retail shop that is even considering staying in business long term needs some sort of point of sale software. Gone are the days when you could write all this information in a book and shove the money in an old fashioned till. This may be hard to take for some people, as there is a certain amount of nostalgia attached to the old fashioned tinkle of the bell over the door as you enter the shop and the cha-ching of the cash register as a sale is made.

Many store owners that have been operating for years absolutely refuse to upgrade to anything newer than what they’ve been using since they started. That is what they know, and no amount of arguing is going to change their mind. I respect that sort of mindset to a certain extent, but I wonder how long it will be before a newer store with touch screen point of sale software comes along and steals all their customers away.
