How Excessive Face Washing Actually Causes More Acne

One of the best tips to prevent acne breakouts and help shorten their duration is to wash your face. You should do this two times daily, preferably at morning and night. However, if you’re not sweating or engaging in lots of physical activity, washing your face more often may actually be detrimental. If you use the wrong soap, you may end up drying out your skin too much. Your body’s natural reaction to this will be to produce more oil to moisturize your skin. This means you have to wash your face more, which causes your body to produce more oil. Pretty soon you’re in a viscous cycle fighting a losing battle you can’t win. The best way to avoid this is just to wash your face twice a day and exfoliate once a week to remove dead skin cells.

Tips on Acne Skin Care

One of the best tips on acne skin care is to simply wash your face regularly and drink lots of water. This may seem like too simple of a solution for such a big problem but it works. Many companies will make you believe that it takes a lot of products and a lot of money to keep your face clear. This is untrue. It's true that some products will help you in keeping your face clean but for the most part, as long as you get plenty of fluids in your body and make sure you rub the dirt off of your face every night, you should be okay. For people with more serious problems, other acne products may be needed as well to help treat the problem.

Three Everyday Things You Do That Increase Your Chance At Acne

Unfortunately things we do in our everyday life increase our chances of acne.  Take these points and think about how they relate to your daily routine and you can help ease your acne outbreaks which will reduce your chances of more serious treatments such as acne scar removal.

  1. Touch Your Face - When a person touches their face they transfer whatever oils, dirt, or debris that is on their fingertips to their face in higher concentrations then naturally occurs.  The oils will flow into the pores carrying the debris which will lodge in the poor.  As the body tries to remove the debris it will cause inflammation leading to acne outbreaks.  Just a good habit to not touch your face with your fingers.
  2. Oily Hair - If you only wash your hair once a week the increased oil levels in your hair, though leaving your hair shinier, will also transfer to your face and neck causing more acne and pimples.
  3. Stress - When a person stresses they produce extra adrenaline which also increases the inflammation in the skin that leads to acne issues.  Keeping yourself calm, dealing with small problems without dwelling on them, and avoiding people who add drama to your life will actually improve your skin.

Rosacea Triggers and You

rosaceaRosacea, a skin disorder somewhat similar in appearance to severe acne, effects millions of individuals worldwide. Despite this, it is relatively unknown outside of people who have rosacea and their dermatologists. There are many over the counter and prescription treatments available, many cross-prescribed from acne treatments. However, the best treatment plan also includes a thorough understanding of rosacea triggers and how to avoid them. Many times, the symptoms of rosacea - a flushing of the skin, the appearance of bumbs and papules on the face, etc - manifest after exposure to certain environmental variables, mostly involving heat. For instance, many times the symptoms flare up if a person is exposed to the heat of sun, or a hot shower, spicy foods, and even hot drinks such as coffees and teas. Learning how to go about daily life while avoiding these triggers, in addition to working with your doctor for a prescription rosacea treatment plan, is key in keeping the symptoms under control.
