Oil Control Equals Acne Control
You may be wondering how controlling oil on our skin help to control acne. To help answer this question we will explore what causes acne and how oil contributes to that. Then we will look at ways to control the oil on our skin so that we can learn to control the breakouts.
Acne is a skin condition that is caused by the clogging of the pores. The body itself contributes to most of those clogged pores as well as our own negligence with daily hygiene. Dead skin cells stick to the face and in the pores by the sebum, or oil, that is created in the sebaceous glands. This mixture acts as a plug inside the pore. Once a pore is plugged then bacteria can start to grow and now we have the right ingredients for a pimple.
When the body over produces the sebum then it is only a matter of time before this vicious cycle begins and breakouts start appearing. To help keep our pores clear we need to keep the excess oil away. Now we can see that controlling the oil on our skin can help to control the appearance of acne.
The best way to accomplish this is to eat a healthier diet. Consuming more fruits and vegetables and less greasy or fried foods is a start. This will help the body to regulate its oil production. In the meantime it is important to wash the face twice a day. Wash with a gentle oil removing cleanser using your hands, not a wash cloth. Abrasive cleansers and scrubs, and wash cloths can kick start the oil production glands. That is the last thing we want to do. After washing it is recommended to use an astringent to help close the openings to the pores. This will keep the dead skin cells out along with any other debris the face collects.
Some one that has oily skin will have a tendency for acne breakouts. Following these simple steps daily is the key to reducing the oil production and to help keep the pores clean and clear of dead skin cells.
