5 Ways to Ruin Your Skin

Despite all your efforts in following all the skin care tips and skin care routines, why do you still feel you are aging rapidly? Well perhaps you are committing one or all of these major crimes to your skin.

* Too much exfoliation

Those who have dry skin tend to believe that exfoliating aids in getting rid of the dead skin cells on their skin. True, but overdoing it will do nothing but impair the skin's natural ability to absorb water, hence causing it to look dull and old.

* Using the same old moisturizer

You should know that what your skin needs during the summer season is not what it needs in winter. Keep in mind that the water level in the air determines the level of oiliness and dryness of your skin. Use skin moisturizers that are intended for the particular weather.

* Cleansing with a harsh skincare product

Foaming cleansers as well as soaps make your skin feel tighter, but this is only because they wash away the natural lipids in your skin, resulting in the faster development of wrinkles on your face. Use gentler cleansers or those products that are oil based.

* Going exclusively organic

While organic skincare products are advisable, it should be limited to cleansers and moisturizers. Organic sunscreen products can never be better than those with some chemical formula. There also doesn't seem to be any organic alternative to retinoid for wrinkle removal. Whether it is organic or not, what matters most is that the skincare product has the correct type and right amount of ingredients.

* Combining various ingredients

As some skin care products are not made to be the all in one product, you are likely to buy individual skin care products and use them all at once. Make sure that when you do this, you follow a certain formulation in order to achieve balanced application.

Skincare – It’s Never Too Early to Start

When it comes to skin care, a person can never start too early. It's important for not just adults but also young children to take care of their skin. There are many reasons, but most importantly is to protect the skin from the elements starting from day one.

Even tiny babies can get sunburned, wind burned and wind up with rashes or rough skin on their face and hands, let alone the rest of their body. It's important as a parent that you understand good skincare tips - even a day outside that's cloudy can damage young fragile skin.

Make sure your baby and child is protected from outside exposure with not necessarily just sun protection. Make sure they wear a hat and are also protected from chilling winds or even just the debris blown about low to the ground while in a stroller.

As a school age child, your child still needs protection for delicate skin, make sure to use sunscreen on the sunny or partly sunny day, and then also protect them from chilling winds, which can cause rough dry skin on the face and hands.

As a young adult, special problems with acne may arise. Watch your child's diet, it's a proven fact that greasy or sugary foods can bring on severe acne. Look to your doctor or dermatologist to help you and your child understand acne, what causes it, and what you can do about it. Don't wait until the acne is so severe that it causes scarring. Tips for clear skin and good skincare products can help. There are plenty of over the counter, prescription and even herbal remedies that can help with acne and the devastating psychological affects acne can cause.

While most of the time skin care is targeting the over 18 age group, don't forget that skin care can never start too young. Protect your child's skin from the devastating effects of outdoor exposure including the sun, wind and cold. Don't wait to address an adolescent's acne until it's severe, look for professional help or even non traditional methods to help your child deal with it.
