In Traditional Witchcraft, the premise of magic is in part an issue of the more you believe in your ability to influence energy, the more magical energy will come through. Nigel had a question, he wanted to know how he would know this is actually happening. He feels that his teacher was not explaining it adequately. I guess he is trying to say that if he expected something to happen, then he might psychologically tend to see evidence that supports his expectation and ignore evidence that does not. This would be a problem for him as he sees himself as scientifically minded. Is there anything he could do to understand this better or objectively verify this? In response I said that magic is an influence to some end. Magic can be an important influence or a minor influence, but magic is not neutral. Like anything in life, at times an influence can be very important in determining an outcome, at other times no matter what influence is presented, no change will take place. I view magic as a determining factor among other factors surrounding any situation.
