If you are on a tight budget adopting an alternative to the traditional wedding cake would save you a fist full of cash. Your alternative could be geared by your personal favorites whatever they maybe. Renting a chocolate fountain and providing fresh fruit, pretzels, and pastries for your guests might appeal to you. Maybe you might also consider a wedding pie. These types of pies can be dressed up similar to a wedding cake and even placed on tiers, only cheaper.

All summer long I was talking to my friends about how I couldn't wait for school to start back up again so I could go to my cooking class.
