Treat Your TMJ By Changing Your Diet
There are many TMJ treatments available for those suffering from the painful disorder of TMJ. One of such treatments you could try is changing your diet. What does your diet have to do with TMJ? Well, when you are overworking the jaw, this can cause additional pain. So by changing your diet and avoiding extra chewy and hard foods, you may be able to decrease pain associated with TMJ.
One major thing that you should consider monitoring in your diet is the amount of sugar you consume. Rather is has been suggested that ones with TMJ should adopt a hypoglycemic diet. This means eating foods that are high in fiber and protein, such as beans nuts and seeds. Also, eating plenty of fresh vegetables and high fiber fruits. Even though fruit is healthy for you, they tend to be extremely high in sugar, which is what you need to avoid. Starchy vegetables, such as potatoes, should also be eaten in moderation.
Other suggestions you may want to take into consideration, is avoiding alcoholic beverages as well as drinks that are high in caffeine. Fast foods, fried foods, and processed foods should also be eaten in moderation with this TMJ treatment. It is also recommended that instead of eating 3 big meals in a day, that you eat six to eight small meals.
